PDF Pattern - The No-Slouch Pouch by KMGhandmade

My hubby begged me to make him something new to store his toiletries in - something that wasn't bland black on the inside, had a secure zipper, and wouldn't flop over. Despite his 20-year old, disgusting, toothpaste-stained bag still holding on, I rummaged through my waterproof canvas stash and got started crafting the No-Slouch Pouch!

I came up with something that he thought was amazing and it was exactly what he wanted. 

After sharing this on Facebook, other bag makers asked for a pattern, so here it is.

What will you find in this pattern:

The pdf includes my method of creating this style of bag and gives example cut chart measurements for a bag with finished dimensions of 7 1/2" H x 11" W x 2 1/2" D.  You can take what you learn here and apply the method to make any size rectangular or square No-Slouch Pouch! For this reason and to protect my intellectual property, I am not approving any public video tutorials of this pattern. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Because you can customize this pattern to any size, you will only find one template piece in the document for a corner placement tool. The rest of the pattern is completed with a ruler and rotary tool or scissors.  This pattern will not include videos, SVGs or A0 files, like many of my other patterns. 

What basic supplies will you need for the example size bag?

I recommend waterproof canvas for the toiletries style bag, inside and out. Less than a half yard of exterior and lining will do. Waterproof canvas gives enough structure that you will not need to interface your fabric, making this a huge timesaver too. 

You will need #5 zipper tape and pull(s) and 1/2" bias binding to finish your seams. 

Also recommended, 1/8" double stick tape for your zipper installation.

Who could make this bag?

I would rate this as an intermediate skill level pattern due to the curved zipper installation, gusset assembly and binding finish.  Makers need to be able to read and follow written instructions without the aid of a video.
